ABOUT

Azimuth Productions was founded in 2023 by Aaron Smail. He started the company to produce a documentary about his search for connection with his late maternal grandfather, Ireal A. (Don) Mayson. As of now, Finding Ireal is in the development stage, but in the meantime, Azimuth Productions is continuing to grow.

A registered business in British Columbia, Azimuth Productions is rooted in narratives of home, bringing forth untold stories from our pasts in order to better understand ourselves here in the present. These stories explore universal themes and provoke meaningful conversation through emotional depth and resonance, aiming to leave a lasting legacy for the storytellers and for audiences alike.

The word azimuth itself is all-encompassing, giving our stories direction and a path forward, with a focus on telling stories found here in the True North; Canada. Azimuth Productions' vision however, is to grow into telling stories from all around the world; an ambitious drive to live into the fullest potential of our name.

Aaron Smail holds a BFA from the University of Victoria, and has since been engaged in various professional creative projects as an actor, composer, sound designer, and director. These projects include stage plays, television, short films, and feature films.

Azimuth Productions' first film, a documentary short subject, is aiming to release in early 2027.
